How to cash checks at WinCo?

WinCo stores require a customer to verify that they are the valid owner of the check by issuing photo identification and other documentation. There is some necessary information that you should fill out yourself at WinCo stores. Then you can purchase products using the funds available on your payroll check. If it’s a payroll check and contains funds below $1000, then go for the procedure. Besides, make sure the amount in the check doesn’t exceed the price of the products you are planning to purchase from the store. Follow these steps below to cash the check at a WinCo store. 

  • First, you will have to fill out the check with the information correctly and properly. 
  • Fill in the date option with the number and use the full date. such as 15/5/2022. 
  • Mention the WinCo store name in the “Pay to the other of” option. 
  • Then, after selecting goods to purchase in the store, input the amount on the check both numerically and in words.   
  • There is a memo line where you will have to mention the products you chose to purchase.
  • Then sign your name at the bottom of the check and give it to the cashier. The cashier should review and confirm. 

Remember not to exceed the limit, which is $1000, and also don’t attempt to cash your check if there is a lack of payments. 

How do I find a WinCo store?

WinCo has 136 stores in western and mid-western states. The states you will find WinCo stores in are Washington, Arizona, California, Idaho, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Montana, Nevada, and Utah. You can visit the WinCo website and you will see a list of stores and their locations. You can also search by entering the store name, address city, state, or ZIP code to find the exact location of a WinCo store.     

Check cashing policy at WinCo

WinCo allows you to cash checks at any of their 136 stores. You must present the check there physically, and the check must be a payroll check and in a printed version. And also, photo identification is a must to verify your identity. And the ID could be a driver’s license, state-issued ID, US military ID, resident alien ID, tribal ID, matriculated consular ID, or a US or non-US passport. The address on the check must be similar to the address mentioned on your ID. A WinCo representative will then call your employer, who provided you with the check. He or She will verify your employment and check your status by calling the employer for verbal employment verification. And you can not apply to cash the check within the next seven days. This means you can only cash one payroll check within a week. 

Checks that WinCo does not cash?

As stated above, WinCo stores only accept customers’ printed payroll checks as cash. So, you cannot expect to cash other checks at WinCo stores. It’s just a waste of time. You can use your other checks at any other store that accepts them. WinCo stores do not accept these checks: two-party checks, checks older than 30 days, counter checks, checks with no pre-printed name, computer-generated checks, insurance settlement checks, post-dated checks, cash checks with unreadable magnetic ink, manually handwritten payroll cash checks, deposit loan money orders, and Finance Company loan checks.  

Checks cashing fees at WinCo

WinCo imposes fees on a specific number of checks cashed. Payroll checks below $500 require $5 and above $500 require $10 as a token fee. But you can redeem this token fee by purchasing products from the WinCo store. To redeem the $5 token, you will have to buy products for at least $25. And to redeem the $10 token fee, the minimum purchase amount is $50. 

How long does it take for my check to clear at WinCo?

WinCo takes around 2 working days to clear the payroll check. In the meantime, WinCo verifies the employer of the customer and verifies the identification of the check owner.  

Check cashing hours at WinCo

WinCo stores usually remain open for customers between 8 am and 9 pm, and you can cash your check within this time frame. Some stores remain open for 24 hours in some important and safe areas where you can cash your check between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. You should call the nearby WinCo store to know if they are open before going there.
