Prepaid debit cards have been available for several years, including the Money Card from Walmart. The Walmart MoneyCard offers a higher account balance limit of $7,500 compared to the more common limit of $3,000 offered by other financial services. Those who cannot or do not wish to open a traditional bank account can take advantage of this service. Using a Walmart Money Card can help to avoid overdraft charges because it doesn’t require bank accounts or credit checks.
Using the reloadable prepaid card is as easy as paying bills, purchasing goods and services, or sending money to others. With the card, you can shop not only at Walmart but anywhere Visa or MasterCard is accepted. Walmart app users are eligible for a cashback of 1% at Walmart locations, 2% at Walmart fuel stations, and 3% at Walmart fuel stations. There are four ways to load money on the prepaid card: direct deposit, Walmart store reload online transfer or tax refund deposit. But the problem arises when we are unable to load money ourselves. In that case, it may be useful to know if someone else can load your Walmart Money Card if you do not have the funds to do it yourself. This is why I planned for this write-up to ease users’ hassles in this regard.
They can do that, yes. You can ask someone to load money on your Walmart Money Card if you don’t have any money to add to your card. If someone else wants to add money to your Walmart Money Card, they can transfer the funds from their bank to your card using your routing and account numbers. When bank transfers are impossible, they can buy a MoneyPak at most retailers (like Walmart) for $5.95 and deposit cash into your account.
If you want someone else to put money on your Walmart Money Card, there are two ways to do it. Let me explain those here.
1. Put money from a Walmart Money Card user
First, you should consider requesting funds from another Walmart Money Card user. Here, you can ask a friend or colleague who uses Walmart Money Card to send you money on your Walmart MoneyCard. In this case, understanding how to transfer money from one Walmart Money Card to another is necessary. Alternatively, you can fund your Walmart MoneyCard through a bank transfer, which is both easy and cost-effective compared to other methods. Afterward, you can make a cash payment or use any other payment method you can afford to return the money. These are a few ways to put money on your Walmart Money Card.
Through the Walmart app
Anyone can put money into your Walmart Money Card. The sender should only need to download the Walmart app to get started. It is necessary for the sender to add money to the recipient’s valid email address or phone number. Senders can use the Walmart MoneyCard app in a few simple steps as follows:
- Step 1 : Tap on the “Pay Bills and People” option in the app.
- Step 2 : Select “Send Money” under the “Pay People” option, then enter the recipient’s phone number or email address.
- Step 3 : Include a memo in addition to the amount.
In a memo, the sender must explain whether the transfer is personal or business-related. In many cases, you can deposit the transferred funds as soon as they are received.
Using MoneyPak
The MoneyPak service makes it easy for friends and family to deposit money to prepaid and bank debit cards. Cash reload is another method for adding funds to the Walmart MoneyCard, with fees at Walmart being lower compared to other reload locations. Using a MoneyPak, your friends or family can send money directly to your Walmart Money Card by selecting the amount they want to send, adding it to the MoneyPak, and completing the transaction at MoneyPak.com.
They can Add $20 to $500 for $5.95 on a MoneyPak account at a participating retailer, then complete the transaction through MoneyPak.com.
You will need to create an account on MoneyPak.com if you are a first-time user. A deposit cannot exceed the available limit on a credit card. To use MoneyPak, you need a personalized card. The Walmart MoneyCard must be activated and customized with the recipient’s name to use the MoneyPak.
Through Family Accounts Card
It is easy to transfer money from one Money Card to another through a family account. Parents can use the family account to set up linked accounts for themselves, their children, and other family members. Those above the age of 13 are eligible to open family accounts.
You can transfer money through a family account by clicking on the payment tab and then sending funds. You will then need to enter your account’s email or phone number. Add a memo if you would like to send a specific amount. Make sure the transaction and money transfers are confirmed right away.
2. Request someone to transfer money to your Walmart MoneyCard from their bank account
Transferring money from a checking account to your Walmart MoneyCard is another cost-effective way to add money to your Walmart MoneyCard. The person will need your MoneyCard routing and account numbers to transfer funds from their checking account. Although it’s cost-effective, it’s not the fastest method, as the process might take up to 3 business days. The Walmart MoneyCard allows users to receive payments early through direct deposit, similar to a typical checking account.
Advantages of Walmart MoneyCard
With the MoneyCard, you can access all the same benefits as with any Visa or MasterCard debit card, including fraud protection. The card also offers overdraft protection, outlining specific terms and conditions for users who opt for this feature. You can also pay your bills online for free. If you want to set up recurring payments for accounts such as your auto insurance, you can send money orders, get paper checks, or establish regular monthly payments. Also, you can send money to friends and family throughout the country with the card.
In addition, Walmart.com and Walmart retail stores offer cashback rewards (3%), Walmart fuel stations (1%), and Walmart retail stores (1%). A maximum of $75 is allowed for cashback rewards per year.
What are the Walmart MoneyCard fees
A Walmart MoneyCard is available for $1 at any store. The Walmart Rapid Reload service allows you to conveniently add funds to your Walmart MoneyCard by depositing cash at Walmart locations for a fee, using the Walmart MoneyCard app to follow detailed steps for seamless deposits. Your monthly service fee will be waived if you made at least $500 in direct deposits in the previous month. A withdrawal from an ATM or teller costs $2.50, while one from a Walmart store is free. Reloading cash at Walmart costs $3, while other reloading locations charge up to $5.95. Foreign transaction fees of 3% and ATM balance inquiries of $0.50 are also charged. You’ll also have to pay $5.95 for a 12-pack of checks and $3 for a replacement card (or $15 for expedited delivery).
Where can I find the routing number and account number for a Walmart MoneyCard
By texting “DD” to 37267, logging into your online account or app, or calling 1-877-937-4098, you can obtain your account and routing number once registered. It is important to note that the numbers on your MoneyCard are not the same as those on your account.

What should I do if there is no notification regarding receiving payment
You should check your spam or junk folder if anyone sends you money via email. If someone sends the money via text, ensure your mobile phone service is working. You can ask your friend to cancel the original Send Money transaction if you have not received the notification.
It’s only possible to cancel a Send Money transaction that’s listed as “Unclaimed”. A person can cancel by going to the Transaction History, tapping “Cancel”, and then confirming. Remember that, transactions that have already been claimed can’t be canceled, so you won’t get them.
